Bluetooth Speaker, Living Decor.

TerraTunes is a wall-mounted Bluetooth speaker that doubles as a terrarium, bringing calming sound and nature into small living spaces. Designed for students and apartment dwellers, it transforms functional technology into a decorative wellness piece.

Let’s Be Honest…

Traditional speakers are visually generic and add clutter. Small-space users want multifunctional objects that combine technology, decor, and wellness.

I Broke It.

I started by disassembling an Onn Mini Rugged Speaker. This helped me understand the electrical components and construction constraints for a redesign.

I Put It Back Together.

How Else Could It Be Arranged?

Refinement Timeline

What did I really accomplish in week 3 of this project?

Add a vent for sound to travel through

Rescale the USB-C port to fit proportions and physical structure limitations

Increase the cut-out button hole diameters for pins to slot in

Decrease the diameter of the internal structure cut-out for the globe to friction-fit into

Downsize the scale of the keyhole slot

Hollow the base for simplified manufacturing

Construct internal supports for screws to attach the base to the front

Improve internal support for globe

Final Design: Dimensions and orthographic
